このコートヤード・バイ・マリオット札幌では、マリオットグループが展開するブランドの一つであり、我々が担当させていただいたのは福井に次いで2件目となります。このコートヤード札幌でもブランドのプロトタイプコンセプトデザインのスタンダードに対し各地域の文化や歴史、風土を盛り込んでさらなるアイデンティティを表現しています。札幌は北海道の道庁所在地であり、様々な企業や飲食店が立ち並び活気ある街でありながら、一方では近くにはニセコもあり、高い建物からは雄大な山並みを見渡すことが出来ます。敷地は中島公園に隣接しており、すすきのの喧騒からは程よい距離感で静けさがあるとても良い環境に恵まれた立地となっています。ホテルブランドとしては都市型ホテルですが、我々は北海道の自然と都市が共生している様を表現したいと考えました。縄文時代から現代に至るまでに時代の重なりから受け継がれる独特の造形やディティール、大自然が作るプリミティブな美しさや様々な質感、色彩の豊かさ、そこへ現代的で新しい空間を凝縮させるようなインテリアデザインを目指しました。1階ではファサードが外部から内部へと木リブがゆるやかな波をもたせて連続させてすべての壁面を覆っています。その壁の曲面の造形に呼応するように螺旋階段の造形をも作り出し、つららを見立てた照明が2階へと誘うデザインとなっています。1階のバーには巨大な煙突を設えた暖炉を設け、これらがこのホテルのアイコンとして機能することを考えました。客室では水回りを寝室との間仕切りをリブ硝子によって区画することで広がりのある空間を作り出しています。今回のインテリアデザインは表層をデザインするだけでなくより建築的、造形的に表現し、今まで以上にディティールを詰めることでとても美しいホテルができたのではないかと考えています。At Courtyard by Marriott Sapporo, one of the Marriott Group's brands, this project marks our second commission following the property in Fukui. As with Courtyard Sapporo, we sought to go beyond the brand’s prototype concept design standards by incorporating the region's culture, history, and climate to further express its unique identity. Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido, is a vibrant city lined with numerous companies and restaurants. At the same time, Niseko is located nearby, and from taller buildings, one can overlook magnificent mountain ranges. The site is adjacent to Nakajima Park and enjoys a tranquil environment, at a comfortable distance from the bustle of Susukino. Although the hotel brand is positioned as an urban hotel, we aimed to express the coexistence of Hokkaido’s nature and the city. Drawing on the layered passage of time from the Jomon period to the present, we sought to incorporate distinctive forms and details inherited across eras, the primitive beauty shaped by vast nature, and the richness of textures and colors, condensed into a contemporary spatial expression. On the first floor, wooden ribs extend from the façade into the interior in a gentle wave, continuously covering the walls. In response to the curved forms of these walls, we created a sculptural spiral staircase, with lighting inspired by icicles, guiding guests upward to the second floor. In the first-floor bar, we installed a large fireplace with a monumental chimney, envisioning these elements as iconic features of the hotel. In the guest rooms, the bathroom area is separated from the bedroom by ribbed glass partitions, creating a sense of openness. This interior design goes beyond surface decoration, pursuing a more architectural and sculptural expression. By refining the details more than ever before, we believe we have created a truly beautiful hotel.
