最も古い花街である宮川町にて、とてもきれいに保たれた古くから残る木造3階建てのお茶屋を改修するプロジェクトです。地元住民と観光客、京都の事業者をつなぐ観光案内所として、1階はバー、2〜3階はコワーキングスペースとしてリノベーション。元々の建築がとてもきれいに保存されていたため、新たに何かを加えてデザインをするのではなく、それらをいかに残してバーカウンターを組み込むかが課題となりました。新たなバーカウンターはバーでありながらも、プレゼンやトークショーの場でもあり、クリエィティブな場でもあり、人と人をつなぐ場となって、楽しさが広がる空間になっています。This project involves the renovation of a well-preserved, traditional three-story wooden ochaya (teahouse) located in Miyagawa-cho, the oldest hanamachi (geisha district) in Kyoto.The building is repurposed as a tourist information hub that connects local residents, visitors, and Kyoto-based businesses. The first floor is renovated into a bar, while the second and third floors function as a coworking space.As the original architecture had been carefully maintained over many years, the key challenge was not to introduce new design elements, but rather to preserve the existing structure while seamlessly integrating a new bar counter.The newly introduced bar counter serves not only as a place for drinks, but also as a venue for presentations and talk events—a creative platform that connects people and allows shared experiences to grow, transforming the space into a lively and engaging environment.
